Sprint on the shore…

…or race the waves with your board

Austalia’s Best Sporting Event of 2014 returns again as Wave Warriors Junior Challenge continues its tour of the country by visiting Noosa’s main beach on Saturday, 21 February. The tours, which visit Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria, are part of an Ironman’s goal of creating a fun, exercise intensive day on the beach for kids. Developed by Ironman Zane Holmes, the event hosts surf races, board races, beach sprints, and of course Ironman and Ironwoman competitions.

Entries should be submitted by midnight Thursday to avoid a late fee of $10. Participation is $40 per competitor ($30 for multiple children in the same family), and includes participation for all races. Competitors also receive a bag with goodies such as an SLSA Approved Fluro Safety Rash Vest, stickers and other fun items.

Kids and teens ranging from ages U9 to U15 are sure to enjoy the wide range of events on the beaches of Noosa. After the challenge, adults and kids alike can follow the boardwalk from Noosa Beach into the National Park, where koalas are sometimes spotted among the astounding views.

Noosa Quays, a nearby waterfront resort, is just close enough to the action that you don’t have to miss a thing. It’s also tucked away on its private beach just a ferry ride away from the famous Hastings Street dining and boutique shopping. Accommodations are still available for one to four bedrooms, with all but one room designed with oversized balconies overlooking the Noosa Sound.
